Maths was not a subject that came naturally to our daughter and she was struggling at school, which was beginning to affect her confidence in other areas. Chris was immediately able to put her at ease and she quickly formed a fantastic rapport with him. The personally tailored, one to one approach was so effective and thanks to Chris and to our daughter’s hard work, she achieved two grades higher than her predicted grade for GCSE after only a few sessions. I cannot rate Chris highly enough and would thoroughly recommend him!
Chris Hawkins has changed our 7th grader's relationship with math. This past year while studying for the 13+ we saw our son really struggling with the quantitative and non-verbal reasoning components of the exams. We sought help and discovered he was at risk for Dyscalculia. While this explained our son's difficulty with math, it didn't help us in terms of his number sense, in-school performance or exam prep.
We were introduced to Mr. Hawkins and our experience has been transformative. In less than half a year, our son has moved from a 4 to 6+ on a 7 point grade scale in his math class. He has passed multiple entrance exams and was offered a place at one of the most prestigious London Day Schools in SW London and finally, but most importantly, he now understands and enjoys math! Mr. Hawkins offers a very personalised service. He was able to use our son's love of politics and music to help him see the magic in mathematics and to really engage him. He breaks the subject into logical and digestible steps that our son can easily recall in class and on exams in pressured environments. He has given our son a tool box for success and so much more. Our son enjoys his tutoring sessions tremendously and is incredibly pleased that he is now ahead of his entire class in terms of new material. I cannot recommend Mr. Hawkins highly enough.
Chris tutored my 14 and 15 year old Americans kids ready for their move into the UK education system. He was patient and quite brilliant with my two moody teens! He guided them through the changes in the systems and gaps in their knowledge. They both really enjoyed their sessions over zoom with him. He somehow sets the right tone of teaching without too much pressure. They both really liked him. I cannot recommend Chris highly enough. He’s one of the best tutors my kids have ever worked with!
Just a few moments ago, we got an email from [school redacted]. I GOT ACCEPTED FOR AN INTERVIEW!!
Thank you, because without your support, I could have not gotten in.
Yours sincerely,
Just want to say thank you for the past couple of lessons they have really helped we to cement my knowledge and gain that bit of confidence that I was missing, until now! I will let you know if anything pops up that I get stuck on.
[Attached] is the 8 marker for my geography and some teachers notes. I've done a lot better than the rest of the class which is very much down to our lessons. the rest of the test I only lost 4 silly marks so Im feeling pretty confident.
My tutor helped me prepare for my Oxbridge admissions test (TSA), focusing on the maths questions. He prepared all the questions I needed him to go through in advance and wrote some sample questions himself to properly target the skills I needed to work on. He was encouraging and supportive, building my confidence and capability. He was brilliant at understanding and noticing the potential traps in each question and so really honed my exam technique.
Chris is an excellent tutor. He has extensive knowledge and is brilliantly calm, patient and understanding. He managed to fit in so much in just an hour and my son already feels so much more confident in areas where he felt unsure. Highly recommended!
I found Seahawk Tutors a great experience that helped my confidence and also brought the fun into learning maths. Our revision session really helped me perform well in my school test. Many thanks to Seahawk Tutors!
At Seahawk we strive to ensure that every child achieves their maximum potential. We think that learning should be fun, and endeavour to make sure that our students look forward to working with us.
We start with a conversation with parents, and then a free tester session with the student. If everything seems to work for all involved, then we set up a plan and a schedule, with a specific target to achieve. This can be precise, such as an average mark, or more general, such as to gain confidence.

We are not teachers in the school sense. We specialise in teaching one-on-one, in building individual understandings and relationships with students. We find this integral to helping learners of all abiltiies to pick up a topic, and we are happy to work with students who have their own unique struggles with traditional learning systems and methods.
